When asked why someone should franchise their business, Gary says the labor cost and the capital expenditures will be less if a business is franchised versus someone opening another location on their own because the expense will be with the franchisee. He believes in the fact that nothing lasts forever. “When the bottom line is driven by royalties instead of sales, the value of the company is greatly increased.” Gary says he asks any potential franchisor, “Tell me about your business without telling me anything about the product.” His point is to get the entrepreneur to determine what differentiates their brand from all the rest. He wants to know if your concept is a concept that can grow beyond your current location and beyond your current customer base.
